alform® 700M

High Strength Structural Steel sheet & plate for Lightweight design

alform® 700M is a thermo-mechanically or normalized hot-rolled steel with excellent cold-forming behaviour.

Specific advantages

We offer alform® 700M steels as hot-rolled steel sheet and slit strip from 2.0mm to 12mm and Rolled Plate from 8mm to 60mm. A variety of production routes lead to specific product advantages. alform® steels find their applications wherever high plasticity coupled with high strength and light-weight design are in demand.

  • Thickness: 2mm to 60mm
  • Yield strength: > 700Mpa
  • Tensile Strength: 750 - 930 Mpa

Benefits in detail

Replacing conventional structural steels with high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels results in unchanged load capacities while achieving a reduction in material thickness of up to 70%. Significant thickness reductions are possible even under difficult load conditions, making high strength and ultra-high-strength steels the key to successful light-weight design. Reduced material thicknesses and lower weights lead to cost-effective production and lower operating costs.

Special grades

High-strength and ultra-high-strength alform® steels are thermo-mechanically rolled with accelerated cooling.

alform® 700M Product benefits

  • Excellent cold formability
  • Edging radii smaller than those of standard steels of comparable strength
  • Excellent weldability
  • Amount of pre-heating either reduced or completely eliminated
  • Clean surface resulting from fine and homogeneous secondary scale

Broad spectrum of steel grades and dimensions

High-strength and ultra-high-strength alform® steels provide the following advantages:

  • Higher lifting and load capacity
  • Optimized workability
  • Higher wear resistance
  • Reduced costs
  • Improved environmental compatibility

Areas of application

Our high-strength and ultra-high-strength alform® steels are in demand primarily in industries with high levels of processing, in structures such as mobile cranes, truck cranes, offshore cranes, concrete pump trucks, mining equipment, heavy-load transporters and pressure pipes in pumped-storage hydropower plants.

Vallourec

V&M Tubes change their name to Vallourec

It is our pleasure to inform our customers of what is an historic move for the Group.

As from October 1st, 2013 V&M Tubes changed their name and adopt the Vallourec brand which many of you may remember from the 1990’s. The product and brand names will not be affected by this name change, though customers will start to see all documents and marketing change to the new Vallourec Brand.
